FAQ
Why Egotist?
It wasn't our idea. (Hey, it's a world-wide network, okay?) Yet, it takes a healthy, not-too-fragile ego to excel in this crazy business. If passion, dedication, single-mindedness, and imagination equal ego, we're all for it.
Who runs the site?
Creative people who live and breathe New Orleans, and who want more opportunity to do great work. This site is not, and never will be a rumor mill. Rather, it's a platform for mature discussions of who we are as a community, and where we want to go. It's where creative folks can forge stronger relationships and seek collaboration. So really, the site belongs to, and is run by everyone who cares about New Orleans and the quality of our creative product. Here, the spotlight will always be on great work, and the talented people who create it.
Who can contribute?
The editors of The New Orleans Egotist are dedicated to making the site robust and perpetually fresh, so new content is added daily (mostly from New Orleans, but also from around the Egotist Network). We encourage everyone in our community to contribute. We want editorials, profiles, success stories, successful failure stories, and most of all, we want to share great work, and credit those who've created it. We’re happy to acknowledge anyone who takes the time to craft and share a fresh point of view. Though, if you prefer, you can remain anonymous.
Is the site associated with an agency or firm?
No. The New Orleans Egotist is autonomous and not connected to any agency, design or marketing firm, or production company.
Will all work submitted be featured?
No. The bar's been set high, so the New Orleans Egotist cannot guarantee that every submission will appear. But if it's good, it will. We want to be a trusted, go-to resource, so we reserve the right to publish only the best, without fear or favor. Period.
Why has my comment or forum thread been deleted?
Because it was inappropriate, irrelevant, or harmful. We encourage and respect strong opinions, but we won't tolerate needless abuse, specious gossip, or trolls. If it's something you wouldn't be willing to stand up and say in public, it probably doesn't belong here either. It’s that simple.
Can I start a version of this site in my own city?
The Egotist platform is built to be launched in cities around the world for local market reporting and community-building. Learn more about starting your local version here.
